Singer Celine Dion On Her Ongoing "Health Issues": "I Want To Get Through This."

Dion, 54, stated that her upcoming dates in Europe would be impacted as her health concerns “persist” four months after she postponed her North American tour.

The singer still has hope that if she is “patient,” she will be able to recover completely and do the shows that she has promised to so many, although she has not fully disclosed the source of her muscle spasms, which she first spoke of back in October 2021.

Dion came to Instagram to first share the news of her health, writing: “I want to get through this as fast as I can.”The singer seemed visibly distressed as she said: “I’m just telling you how I feel, and I want you to know I’m sorry for this news.” I know you have all waited a long time for the concerts, and I value your loyalty.

“By this time, I’m sure you should be sick of waiting and dealing with all of this. All I can say is that I’m working as hard as possible to get back to where I need to be to perform at my best because that’s what you deserve.

Little information was available regarding the source of the singer’s muscle spasms, so it was up to her sister, Claudette Dion, to speak with TVA Nouvelles, a Quebec French-language news service, to provide further information.

She said: “She told me that the stage had a steep inclination when performing, which would give her legs, feet, and muscles trouble.I know she had to work out and maintain her fitness level daily to maintain her muscles.

Dion was somewhat cheerful in her most recent update, which was released three weeks ago, but she also acknowledged that her recovery is taking far longer than she expected.

She stated: “Now it’s my health concerns prompting us to postpone the events and, unfortunately, cancel some too,” in another video uploaded to her social media accounts.

Stress, physical activity, or dehydration are all factors that can cause muscular spasms. The Cleveland Clinic states that while they can affect any area of the body, they most frequently impact the feet, hands, arms, abdomen, and back.

Muscle spasms that indicate a neurological health issue are typically accompanied by additional symptoms. These could consist of:

  • Back, neck, or head pain Muscle aches and pains
  • Skin numbness
  • a tingling, needle-like feeling
  • a tremor
  • Paralysis
  • a lack of cooperation
  • Slow movements
  • dual vision
  • sleep issues.

The NHS states that a condition known as dystonia is a life-long condition that produces “uncontrolled and occasionally painful muscle spasms.” However, Dion has not confirmed that she has received a permanent medical diagnosis.

Other symptoms include uncontrolled blinking, shaking, and sections of the body twisting into unexpected postures are also frequent. The illness can affect the entire body or just one part.

The way that muscle spasms and illnesses like dystonia are handled is one of the primary distinctions. Regular muscle spasms typically go away independently, but dehydration-related muscle cramps can be eased by drinking plenty of water.

Injections of the drug botulinum toxin are the mainstay of treatment for dystonia. Every three months, this procedure must be performed to rid people of their problems. Other options include surgery, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy.
