Matthew Perry wonders why Keanu Reeves is alive but “brilliant” Heath Ledger isn’t

Matthew Perry Would Prefer Keanu Reeves To Die Than Heath Ledger And Other Brilliant Actors

In his latest book, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Matthew Perry criticizes fellow actor Keanu Reeves seemingly without cause.

Perry gained attention as Chandler Bing in Friends, but the comedian also made a name for himself in movies like 17 Again and The Whole Nine Yards. Although Perry has extensively discussed his drug addiction in his memoir, it has frequently impacted his work.

Perry has received a lot of media attention recently due to said memoir. He shares intimate details of his life, work, and battle with addiction in Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, and many significant sections have made their way online.

The actor admits he overdosed on opioids and nearly died, and he’s spent over $9 million trying to become clean. In addition, Perry discusses his love interests, including how he split from Julia Roberts, his crush on Jennifer Aniston, and his embarrassing set-up date with Cameron Diaz.

Perry discusses the terrible deaths of well-known Hollywood actors and comedians, including River Phoenix, Chris Farley, and Heath Ledger, in fresh portions of his memoir made available via Variety.

Perry regrets the death of his buddies while also repeatedly insulting Keanu Reeves and implying that the star shouldn’t be alive. Perry doesn’t go into detail about the actor’s distaste (if any).

It’s also important to note that Reeves regarded the late actor River Phoenix as a personal friend and has frequently praised him. Read Perry’s writings below.

“River was a beautiful man, inside and out– too beautiful for this world, it turned out. It always seems to be the real talented guys who go down. Why is it that original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us? River was a better actor than me. I was funnier. But I certainly held my own in our scenes–no small feat when I look back decades later.”

“His [Farley’s] disease had progressed faster than mine had. (Plus, I had a healthy fear of the word ‘heroin,’ a fear we did not share.) I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out. Keanu Reeves walks among us. I had to promote ‘Almost Heroes’ two weeks after he died. I found myself publicly discussing his death from drugs and alcohol. I was high the whole time.”

Reeves has been experiencing a significant career renaissance for a while now, fueled by a lot of online love. Reeves’ appearances in the John Wick and Matrix movie series made him well-known, but the actor is adored for reasons other than performing.

Reeves is known as one of Hollywood’s kindest actors, and he consistently upholds this reputation in all of his public appearances and interactions with fans.

Reeves’ generosity has been the subject of several web stories, and in a time when public personalities are frequently criticized for bad behavior, Reeves’ good nature has helped him become very well-liked.

Reeves has also gained recognition outside of his capacity as an actor in recent years thanks to a number of Internet memes praising his likeability and attractiveness.

Perry’s comments appear to come out of nowhere, despite Reeves’ lack of a public response. Although Reeves and Perry haven’t shared much screen time together, it doesn’t seem likely that these remarks are intended to make fun of the actor, given the context of the quotations.

Perry is already facing a lot of opposition, and it is unclear how things will turn out in this case. Whatever the reason, Perry, not Reeves, is the only one who suffers from these remarks.

What do you think is the reason for Matthew Perry’s comment on Keanu Reeves? Please let us know in the comments, and don’t forget to spread the news so that we can hear from more people.

    1. Matthew Perry’s remark towards Keanu Reeves is horrific and I think born out of jealousy. Maybe the fact that Reeves who has been praised as a true “Mensch” (a good and decent human being) is just to much for Perry’s drug addled brain to comprehend.

    2. I NEVER CARED FOR PERRY IN FIRST PLACE HE IS JEALOUS OF SWEET KEANU REEVES I’D SAY I LOVE KEANU HE’S A WONDERFUL MAN CARING, HONEST, DOESN’T PUT ON HE’S GREAT IN EVERYWAYS…………. SO many stars that r mean & abusive out there unreal, what a shame if it wasn’t for us fans they’d be no wheres they should think of that but don’t…………shame why i Love Keanu Reeves a REAL TRUE Human Great Man…….

    3. I think Perry is jealous! Reeves is very low key about all the things he does for people. He doesn’t look for any atta boys he just does things not worrying about any recognition. I think Perry needs to mind his own business. Reeves has it all over him in every way.❤️

    4. Only God knows the answers to Perry’s questions. We are not to get into God’s business. Everyone is on there own with Gid, a duel partnership. If you cannot speak kind about someone, do not speak of them at all. We all have our own path to walk. You are walking yours.

      • I am a big FRIENDS fan. I just read Matthew’s book. While I have a small amount of empathy for him regarding his addiction, he would not be alive today if he weren’t rich and famous. Does he want his fans or the readers of the book to feel bad for him because he went to rehab so many times? I don’t. My daughter and her husband are 31 and have buried several of their high school friends from overdosing. They may have been to rehab once or a few times. After that, most insurance companies don’t pay any more. Unless you are very wealthy, you’re on your own and a LOT of people die.
