A viral video shows King Charles’ reaction to a fan asking him out for a pint.
The video, shot by Andrew Gould, has now gone viral on social media, with many people noting that Charles’ sense of humour appeared to be similar to that of his late mother.
The footage shows Charles waving to a crowd on the street as admirer Daniel Walker calls out, “Charles, do you want to go for a beer?”
Surprisingly, the royal responds by asking Walker to repeat the query, to which he replies, “Where?”
As the audience laughs, Walker responds, “Anywhere!”
“You’ll have to recommend somewhere,” replies King Charles, who is also laughing.
Walker, a senior e-commerce specialist from Birmingham, had met the then-Prince Charles during the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on July 28, 2022.
“It’s something I could talk about for the rest of my life,” Walker told NeedToKnow.online.
“I believe he will be a good leader since many people I know benefited from the Prince’s Trust when they were younger, and this stunt has made me appreciate all of his hard work.”
“I had just completed work and was headed to meet my friends for a drink, where I was minding my own business – until I spotted him.”
“I figured, if I’m going to get a pint, I’ll ask him if he also wants one.”
“I guess he thought he was being heckled at first because I was shouting his name, and I’m pretty tall, so his initial response was slightly rude.”
“But once I repeated myself, I couldn’t believe it because I didn’t expect him to answer.”
Walker claims that King Charles’ security began laughing and asked him to wait because the royal wanted to meet him.
“I got to meet him afterward and shake his hand,” he concluded. He was ready to go when he noticed me and extended his hand before asking what I did for a living.
“He said I was a ‘genuine Brummie lad’ and wished me luck.”
“Seeing his human side has made me like him even more.”
“People don’t notice all of the positive things he’s done because they’re constantly searching for the negative – but I have a lot of respect for him.”
“I hope he’s still up for that pint because it’d be incredible.”
“It can be my treat as well, as good luck on his new work.”
After being shared on TikTok, the video gained over.
After being posted on TikTok, the popular post had 8.5 million views and 700,000 likes, with viewers flocking to the comments to recount their encounters with the King.
“He has the same sense of humour as his mother,” said one.
“Fortunate enough to have met him twice and in private, he’s so down to earth and humorous,” commented another.
“Charles reaction ‘what’ spoken like a genuine royal,” said another.
A fourth said Charles was ‘winning’ them over, while a fifth said the ‘future king has time for people.’
“He’s incredibly funny!” said another. I met him when I was 17 and asked if I might marry one of his sons. “Take your pick,” he said.”
