It’s Nothing Short of a Miracle How This Brazilian Man Survived for 5 Days on a Deserted Island

A 51-year-old Brazilian gardener who was pulled out to sea after falling off a rock at a beach survives on a lonely island for five days by consuming two lemons and drinking seawater.

A gardener from Rio de Janeiro claims he spent five days eating two lemons, drinking seawater, and consuming charcoal before being rescued.

After someone on a jet ski discovered Nelson Nedy on the island, the authorities were able to rescue him on Saturday. The 51-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, treated there, and then released.

Nedy’s predicament started when he went to Grumari beach’s Mirador do Roncador observation tower.

A larger wave came crashing down and threw him into the ocean as he was standing on top of a rock, watching the surf and taking a step forward.

“I just smashed my butt on the rock.” I’m not sure if I hit the water, bounced, or sank,” Nedy told G1 in Brazil. I swam deeper and attempted to escape the rock.

Nelson Nedy was escorted by firefighters as he exited a helicopter on Saturday to be taken to a nearby hospital

He remembered being carried about two miles out to sea before washing up on the shore of the deserted Palmas Island by a strong sea current.

Nedy lost strength from being in the sea for too long and had nowhere to go but wait to heal.Nothing was present. There is nowhere to run or hide, he said. I had to decide whether to push ahead and look for a different position.

After some searching, he discovered a cave where he spent the night, using a wet t-shirt to cover his head as the temperature dropped.

Andy got up early and went for a walk to see the island before it started to rain. He was using an old rope that someone had left behind to scale the rocks when he suddenly noticed a temporary tent that some local fishermen had built.

He eventually climbed and discovered two lemons on the ground in addition to two water bottles. He claimed, “I ate them with the skin on and everything, so I wouldn’t miss anything.”

Nedy tried to attract attention from people on the sands of Grumari beach using a blanket that had been left inside the tent, but he felt helpless because he was too far away.

I briefly tried to swim to Grumari Beach but gave up.I got halfway, but the tide pulled me into the water, the man said. “There came a period when I dropped the body and kept repeating, “God can take me now if he wants to.

Nedy tried using a piece of plywood and Styrofoam door as a board to escape on Thursday after swimming back to the island. The current pushed his back against a rock, and he had to turn around since it could not support his weight.

He claimed, “I drank pure salt water.” “There were times when I stored up, and I’d merely moisten my tongue with a little of the sweet to cover the salt in the water.”

A hungry Nedy remembered seeing monkeys steal coal for food on Friday, and since they didn’t get sick from eating it, he assumed he could too.

However, he continued, “it dried up my mouth even more and became stuck in the tooth.”

Nedy was looking for a means to stay hydrated on Saturday because he had used up all of the water he had in the two fights. At that moment, he spotted several people on jet skis.He held out his t-shirt and waved it in their direction.

Nedy was flown to a Guaratiba base by a fire department helicopter, then he was put in an ambulance, and he was sent to Lourenço Jorge Hospital in Barra da Tijuca.
