Strangers on the internet have advised a guy to quit his relationship with his girlfriend after he revealed that she stormed out of his home in the middle of the night after he went to sleep on the floor and comforted his crying dog.
The US-based pet owner opened out about his love life on Reddit, explaining that he adopted a retired military dog a year earlier, eight months before he met his four-month girlfriend.
The 30-year-old noted in his post that because of his military service, his dog “had some PTSD” and found loud noises “very hard” to handle.
He stated at the beginning of his post, “I have been dating me [girlfriend] for about four months.” I recently adopted a retired military dog. Loud noises can be difficult for him because he has some PTSD.
The man continued by saying that the night before he posted, his dog was “having some troubles” and that he could hear him “whimpering and sobbing.”
I went down to the floor to see how he was doing,’ he recalled. My girlfriend was staying the night, but he seemed somewhat disturbed. To console him, I spent the entire night on the floor. ‘I fell asleep on the floor next to him.
Despite feeling as though it was the appropriate thing to do at the time to soothe his pet dog, the man said that he woke up to a furious message from his girlfriend, 28, who had stormed out of his house the previous night after waking up to discover him gone.
He added, “When I woke up, my [partner] was no longer at home, and I got a text claiming how the puppy was more important than her and stuff like that,” before asking his followers on social media what they felt about the situation.
“I’m not sure what to do. She seemed to be acting instead egotistically at this time, and it irritated me. She is aware that he is struggling. I could even want to break.
Following the post’s Twitter sharing by the user account @redditships, dozens of users rushed to the man’s support, criticizing his girlfriend’s actions and advising him to break up with her.
One commenter said, “What is her issue? She got a bed to herself for the night and uninterrupted sleep – if [he] had booted the girlfriend out of bed to get the dog in, might understand her being a bit irritated.” However, he slept on the floor with his scared dog.
Another person responded, saying: “What the Hell? A dude who spends the night with a traumatized dog is genuine gold.” Lady has lost her mind.
Many others commended the man, stating that his actions were extraordinarily kind and considerate and would have likely made him appear even more alluring to many other ladies.
I have slept on the floor with my cats, bcuz they were afraid of the weather, 4th of July noises, sickness, when my cat died a few months ago I slept with her on her last night. If my man won’t support me with that knowing the issues, that right there lets me know he’s not the one. Just kinda makes me wonder what else would he not support me on.
