Former President Jimmy Carter and his beloved wife Rosalynn celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. They are the longest-married presidential pair, and their love story is incredibly amazing.
The Carters married on July 7, 1946, in Plains, Georgia, where they now live, and celebrated the big occasion.

Rosalynn’s family lived next door to Jimmy’s, and she was best friends with his sister. She recalls Jimmy’s sister having a portrait of him on the wall, and she fell in love with that photo, which showed a young Jimmy wearing his uniform.
Jimmy met Rosalynn during a visit to his hometown from the Naval Academy and felt she was the one. The former president told People, “She was lovely and innocent, and there was a connection.” They began dating but did not marry until she was 18 since she promised her dying father that she would not marry before graduating high school.
Because Jimmy was frequently deployed to different locations, the couple frequently traveled throughout their initial years of marriage. Rosalynn, on the other hand, wasn’t bothered.
She enjoyed being on the go with him, and she was disappointed when he decided to leave the Navy. “I had been self-sufficient and independent from my mother and Jimmy’s mother,” she told The New York Times.

Being married for so many years may be difficult, but the Carters don’t see it that way. They have always been by each other’s sides, both during his presidency and while he was battling illness.
When it comes to the key to a long and happy marriage, Rosalynn and Jimmy agree that they have never gone to bed furious at one other and know how to appreciate the little things that many others take for granted, such as cherishing each other’s companionship.
“We’ve just gotten closer and closer together,” Jimmy explained.

They have many interests in common, such as bird watching and volunteering in the community via the group Habitat for Humanity, which builds houses for individuals in need.
They also allow each other room to pursue their passions. “Jimmy and I are constantly seeking activities to do together,” Rosalynn stated to CBS42. “Everyone should have their area.” That is important.”

Rosalynn and Jimmy both claim that their sentiments and love for one another became stronger over time. They only recall a fight while they were writing a book together.
“I know for my sake,” Jimmy added, “it’s been the finest thing that’s ever happened to me – marrying Rosalynn and living together for so long, learning to know each other more and more intimately every day in married life.”
“I’ve been very happy,” he said. “and I love her even more now than I did before — which is saying a lot because I loved her a lot before.”
