During Their Rare Red Carpet Appearance Together, Keanu Reeves & Girlfriend, Alexandra Grant, Hold Hands

Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant had a wonderful evening out.

The Matrix Resurrections actor, 57, and his artist girlfriend, 49, went to the 2022 MOCA Gala on Saturday at the Geffen Contemporary at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. Holding hands and gazing into one other’s eyes, they strolled down the red carpet together.

When they made their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art + Film Gala presented by Gucci in Los Angeles in November 2019, the couple made their relationship public.

Years of friendship have allowed Reeves and Grant to work together on projects, including Reeves’ 2011 book Ode to Happiness and Shadows, also written by Reeves with illustrations by Grant.

The couple had been dating for far longer than the public was aware, according to Grant’s pal, actress Jennifer Tilly, who spoke to Page Six in February 2020. “I recall [Grant] telling me that Keanu Reeves was his boyfriend a few years ago—roughly a year and a half ago—and I was like, “Wait. What? Whoa, whoa,” At the time, Tilly, 63, stated.

In March 2020, Grant spoke up to Vogue about her relationship with Reeves and the attention she experienced after they made it known they were dating. This was the first time Grant had spoken about their relationship.

At the time, she said, “It’s fascinating to think that everyone I knew called me in the first week of November.” But throughout it all, my main concern has been, “What is the opportunity for good?”

When asked if she could picture herself getting married in the future, Grant replied, “During a wine glass… I wish I could tell you. Love is essential to who I am on every level. How’s that for avoiding the question? Isolation is not the answer, in my opinion. I spend a lot of time alone as a painter, but I also value the experience of being in partnerships very much.”

Reeves discussed love on The Drew Barrymore Show in December after the host said, “I’m not a fighter, I’m a lover.”

He answered, “No, you can’t because you have to be a fighter to be a lover. How much love do you really have if you don’t fight for it?” Then Reeves stood up, laughing and making fun of Barrymore for making him “philosophical” about love.
