Both in the world of country music and the world of celebrities, Dolly Parton is well-known.
Despite having spent practically her entire life performing and singing, the Tennessee native has grown to be nothing short of a legend and has a passion for entertaining her crowds of adoring fans.
Even though she still makes new music, the 76-year-old superstar has formally announced that she would stop touring.
Dolly Parton recently addressed her decision to stop touring in an interview with Pollystar. She explained:
“Once in a while, I’ll perform special shows here and there. Do a few shows at a festival or a few over a long weekend. But I’m not planning to go on another full-fledged tour anymore.
The 76-year-old country music legend will instead keep on creating music and devote her time to Carl Thomas Dean, who she loves.
In Nashville, Tennessee, in 1964, Dolly and Carl Dean met in front of the Wishy Washy Laundromat. Carl was 21 years old, and Dolly was 18 at the time. Carl noticed something special about the young woman right away.
As stated by Entertainment Tonight, Dean said of the first time they met, “My initial instinct was, ‘I’m going to marry that girl.
“My next thought was, ‘Lord she looks good.'” And that marked the start of my life. For nothing on earth, I wouldn’t exchange the past 50 years.
As Dolly described in a 1976 interview with the New York Times, Dean was driving his pickup truck when he saw her and “hollered” at her.
But she didn’t want to go on a date with him. Instead, just a few days later, she asked him over while watching her nephew. It was the beginning of an everlasting love affair.
Dolly and Carl wed in a secret ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia, in May 1966. Since she had a profession to consider, her record label advised against getting married right away.
However, Dean and Dolly didn’t want to wait and made the decision to get married in Georgia instead, keeping the local Tennessee media from reporting on it. There were only three people present: Dolly, Carl, and her mother.
Since that time, Dolly and Carl have been devoted to one another. The couple’s 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated in 2016. They chose to renew their vows as a way to celebrate.
And they’ll spend even more time together now.
Parton discussed her touring experiences in-depth during her interview with Pollstar:
“I’ve done that my entire life, and it requires a lot of time and effort. I prefer to spend more time at home with my hubby. We’re getting older, and I don’t want to travel away for extended periods of time—four or five weeks at a time. Something might take place. If I were absent and someone required my assistance, I would not feel great about that. If someone at home became ill and required my assistance, I could feel horrible about having to end a tour and disappoint the audience.
The musician claims that her hubby will enjoy her most recent musical compositions, which are all rock n’ roll. In fact, Parton received a nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in May.
“There’s never been a better time to do it,” I reasoned when I learned that I had been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Because of how much my husband enjoys heavy rock ‘n’ roll, I’ve often thought, “One of these days, I’d like to produce an album mostly just for him, just to kind of do it.
The actress allegedly plans to write a Christmas special for NBC this year while she continues to work on her new album. As she clarified:
“It’s an internal show. The dramatic aspect of what we’re doing is our main concern. It displays everything that occurs as a show is being put together. Every disagreement you have with the producers, every issue you have with the performers, every issue with scenery falling down, every issue with what happens backstage, every situation where people have to quickly cancel and reschedule, etc. Since I am being wholly honest in this, I wouldn’t classify my performance as acting. I don’t play a character; I’m just Dolly all the time.
Dolly is also collaborating with actress-turned-producer Reese Witherspoon on the upcoming movie “Run, Rose, Run,” which is an adaptation of the book of the same name that the star and James Patterson co-wrote.
Have fun, Dolly! You have been very kind to us! Just relax and take it all in right now! We’ll love you forever.
