Following the removal of life support, doctors are shocked.
Life is a complete mystery. The reality is that we are never aware of the barriers and difficulties that may stand in our way, but we must always remember to fight through them and have faith that things will finally turn around.
Chelsea Hough was eager to meet her child. Her pregnancy was healthy, and when she was 36 weeks along, she gave birth to a boy they called Karson Jax Hough.
Karson first appeared to be a very healthy baby, then all of a sudden, his heart rate slowed down and eventually stopped. When doctors tried skin-to-skin contact with his mother, his heart began to beat once again, but it didn’t last long. The cute little one needed a ventilator to help his heartbeat and to make it easier for him to breathe.
“There is no other way to explain what has happened, which is that this precious young boy has experienced two extremely unusual diseases that are totally unconnected to one another. Karson’s grandmother, Lisa Hough, said that one was difficult to pinpoint a cause for.
Doctors believed that Karson, a beautiful little boy, had a bleed in his left temporal lobe and nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), a rare hereditary condition that results in glycine buildup in the body’s tissues and fluids.
The likelihood of survival was low, according to the physicians. After a while, they suggested to the family to turn off Karson’s life support.
After giving it careful thinking, they concluded that following the physicians’ recommendations would be best. They all prayed together when they were informed that Karson would only have around 10 minutes left before he died.
The adorable infant unexpectedly began breathing on his own after the ventilator was taken off. The doctors were in amazement and referred to it as a miracle.
“We saw a miracle today!” Written by Lisa Hough. “We were given 10 minutes after removing the ventilator and intensive care and advised to expect his heart to cease in those 10 minutes because he wouldn’t be able to breathe on his own… Karson and God, however, had other ideas!
“I’m not sure why I ever felt like we were so undeserving of a miracle. I’m also not sure how long we have had him, but for now, he is with us. And now we’re going to take,” said Lisa.
Karson thrived once he was at home. He has a good weight, and his heart rate is steady. He’s fighting the odds every day, and the Glycine levels in his body have significantly decreased.
We hope for a long and happy life for this adorable baby.
