After she disclosed that the bride had bullied her at school in the past, a woman was left furious with one of her bridesmaids. The newlywed used Reddit to admit that she was not always the nicest person because she had formerly teased and bullied the woman who is now one of her closest friends.
She claimed: “Perhaps because I made fun of her, other people started making fun of her grades.
“She had privately challenged me about this, and I did stop making fun of her after that because I felt humiliated. The class probably also stopped because they realized it was an old joke.
However, after graduation, the two of them attended neighboring colleges, which increased the conversation and time spent together.
According to the author, “Our universities were close after we ran into each other at a reunion. Since then, we’ve hung together frequently and developed close friendships.”
The woman was consequently asked to be a bridesmaid at the author’s wedding, and the request was accepted right away.
However, it was during the bridesmaids’ toast that their past started to become known to all the attendees.
She recalled the abuse I gave her during the toasts at the wedding, stating, “I can’t believe we’re friends even though you bullied me all through high school.
“I’m not sure if she was making a joke when she said it. I’ve tried my hardest to make it up to her and have apologized numerous times. Each time I apologized, she accepted it and even laughed at how overthinking I was. I believed that we had finally moved past the past.
After the toast, the bride’s sister and maid of honor spoke to her, fearing that the bride had been the target of bullying in the past.
According to the author, “She said that she was just stating the truth. I retorted that we could discuss this, but preferably at a later date and in a separate setting.
She said that by acknowledging the fact that I had bullied her, I was demeaning her sentiments. I broke down in tears, and she left.
There were rumors that the bridesmaid had been forced to leave the event by certain guests.
She said, “Even though I’ve already discussed the situation, my in-laws have also asked about it and have been pretty cold to me.
“I just don’t think that it was the correct time and place given that our friendship has lasted seven years and we have a close bond,” she said.
A lot of people have jumped to the newlywed’s defense, arguing that she has made every effort to apologize for her previous actions. As one person put it: “If she wanted to talk about it with you or your circle of friends, she could have picked any moment to do so since you attended university together.
“She probably chose your wedding day as the day of your retaliation. She tried to ruin one of the happiest days of your life by taking it.
