‘Happy’ Mich. Couple Welcomes First Daughter After 14 Sons: ‘beyond Excited.’

After years of trying—and 14 baby boys who came before her—a Michigan couple has finally welcomed a baby girl.

Maggie Jayne, a girl who weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 20 inches long, was born to Kateri Schwandt, 45, on Thursday.

Even though she and her 45-year-old husband Jay already had 14 children, this was their first daughter despite living in a house full of sons.

Since they first met as freshmen at Gaylord High School and Gaylord St. Mary’s, the Schwandts have had children. Before receiving their college degrees, they were married in 1993 and had three sons.

To acquire two X chromosomes, however, required numerous attempts.

“We are incredibly thrilled to welcome Maggie Jayne into our family,” said Jay. “This year has been special in so many ways and for so many reasons, but Maggie is the best gift we could have ever received,”

Tyler Schwandt, the oldest son, who is 28 years old, told the Detroit Free Press that his parents “finally had the little girl they never anticipated they’d end up having.”

The other children of the marriage are Zach, Drew, Brandon, Tommy, Vinny, Calvan, Gabe, Wesley, Charlie, Luke, Tucker, Francisco, and Finley.

The Schwandts aren’t entirely ready to have a girl on their hands because their home is filled with testosterone and tiny Maggie’s gender is obviously a surprise.

Tyler, who resides in his own house and is currently engaged to be married, continued, “I don’t even know if my mom owns any pink clothing — or anything.”

In addition, he claimed that because his parents were so certain that they would have another boy, they had not decided on any girl names prior to the baby’s arrival.

In the past, the male-dominated household of the Schwandts has been highlighted in the news and on television.

The youngest son of the pair was born in April 2018 and was given the middle name Finley Sheboygan, which is a bit of an inside joke.

A Native American chief with numerous sons, who thought his last child would be a girl, is the subject of a story that Kateri’s father frequently tells. When he was a boy, the chief gave him the nickname Sheboygan, which means “she’s a boy again.”

We, therefore, choose to play about a little with it, she said. “If someone wants to make fun of his name, they can try. He’s got a lot of brothers standing behind him,” the man said.

Kateri acknowledged that living with such a large family is “Crazy.” Chaotic. Noisy. Messy, but he also said, “We like it. We wouldn’t have kept having this many kids if we hadn’t.
