Every Thursday morning, when the garbage truck passes by Brooklyn Andracke’s house, the garbage man always honks the horn and waves.
Oh, forget it. She is a HUGE fan. Her real hero is Delvar Dopson.
Brooklyn’s mother, Traci Andracke, told The Huffington Post, “He is our favorite awesome cheerful garbage man.”
Brooklyn became fascinated with Dopson because his truck would pass their Bloomington, Illinois, home every Thursday just as Andracke and Brooklyn were heading to daycare.

Brooklyn saw Dopson driving the large vehicle when the two started walking outside to see the truck rather than watching it from the house.
After that, “it was all about him,” Andracke recalled. “She wanted to see the “trash man,” not the “waste truck,” any longer.”
So, when Brooklyn turned 3 on April 7, the child decided she wanted to spend some of her special days with him. She waited eagerly outside her house for Dopson to drive onto their street. Brooklyn gave Dopson one of her birthday cupcakes as he stopped the garbage truck at Andracke’s request.
As a mother, Andracke told HuffPost, “I can’t even begin to express how joyful it made me that she got to finally meet him.” She was utterly speechless due to starstruckness. She had to rely on me to do all of the speakings. She also rarely runs out of things to say.
Andracke wrote to the city of Bloomington with the statement that Dopson was “instantly speechless,” which the officials afterwards shared on Facebook and which is now going viral.
She continued, “I told him that every Thursday, he makes our day, and we really appreciate the honking and waving and how special a day it is for us. “We went to childcare after he had departed. The backseat of Brooklyn was strangely silent. When I questioned whether she was alright, she responded, “Mommy, I’m so happy,”
Dopson surprised Brooklyn with toys from her favorite movie, “Frozen,” when he came back the next week to collect trash. Brooklyn then sent him a thank-you card, which he proudly put in his truck in return.
The amount of attention that Andracke’s daughter and Dopson received, she told The Pantagraph, left her family “blown away.”
