Most people get tattoos because they like them, but this Australian woman got one to make it easier for her to find her way around. You did indeed read that, right. D’ Canberran Kodia Laine received the letters “L” and “R” permanently tattooed on her left and right hands, respectively.
The 23-year-old claimed that she had a hard time telling left from right and decided to get this strange tattoo on her hands as a solution.
The communications student had always struggled with this issue, often feeling uncomfortable as she made an ‘L’ shape with her hands to indicate which direction was left. She was elected team leader during a scavenger hunt at a party, and that gave her the motivation to improve her navigational skills.
Laine joked about getting the letters tattooed after misdirecting the driver a few times. A buddy then drew an “L” and an “R” on her hands.
On February 3, D’Kodia finally had the tattoo applied by Australian tattoo artist Lauren Winzer at Hunter & Fox.
It began as a joke, but it turned out to be quite helpful, and she didn’t appear to be a moron when she made an L with her fingers to figure it out.
D’Kodia endured escalating jeers as she grew up because of her poor sense of direction. “My buddies used to make jokes about how absurd it would be for an adult to distinguish themselves by making an L-shape with their hands,” she said.
D’Kodia revealed to Daily Mail Australia that after getting the tattoo, her friends’ responses to seeing pictures of the finished design were hilarious.
“I only got a lot of laughs in return and [messages like] “oh, you were being serious!” she said.
You may be wondering who was the happiest following Laine’s tattoo. Yes, it was her lover! He appreciates not getting embarrassed by others anymore, she said.
The tattoo was published on Instagram by tattoo artist Lauren Winzer, who has now received over 4.5k likes and hundreds of comments from people who said the tattoo spoke to them. “Tattoos can be really useful in addition to being adorable!!! wishing you luck in all your future endeavors @dkodia, delighted to assist you “In her post, Winzer added.

One user replied, “Me once I learn to drive.” “Omg I cannot tell you how much I want this tattoo,” another person continued.
According to the comments on the photo on Lauren’s page, it appears to be a tattoo that many people are claiming to need, so Laine said, “I don’t feel too stupid anymore.”
