Christopher Lloyd And Michael J. Fox Reunited At Comic-Con

Doc Brown and Marty McFly have returned to the scene. To celebrate their official Back to the Future reunion, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd got together at New York Comic Con on Sunday. They talked about their legendary performances in the loved movie trilogy.

The actors recalled how Fox was brought in to take Eric Stoltz’s place as Marty McFly just over a month after filming had started as the panel’s opening statement.

The statement, according to Lloyd, came after several late-night shootings for the scene in which Doc Brown discovers the secret to time travel.

The actor who played Marty would no longer be portraying Marty, and that the next day, we would start shooting with Michael was announced at one in the morning after we had been filming for six weeks, according to Lloyd, 83.

“I felt as though I had just about made it through the [first] six weeks, and now I was going to have to do it again?!”

At the time, Fox, 61, was filming Family Ties, so he was hesitant to sign on because his mother was concerned that he’d be too worn out having to split his time between the TV program and a feature film.

Nevertheless, Fox chose to join what would become a career-defining movie for him and Lloyd.

“The two’s on-screen chemistry was there from the first moment we did, it was alive, and it continued that way for three movies,” Lloyd said. By the way, it is still there.

Working on the movie and with Lloyd, in particular, was “a delight,” according to Fox, who added that each time he got to work with the Taxi star was a “wonderful day.”

Fox referred to his co-performance star by saying, “All I had to do was simply react.” “Just let it wash over me while I soak it all in. He was amazing, in my opinion.

“That was the entire plan: to enjoy it, be with Chris, and let Chris be Chris. It was thrilling. I always knew it would be a nice day when I got to work with him.”

Along with pictures from the event, a video of the pair reconnecting was posted on social media, with Fox taking the stage before Lloyd, who later joined his old co-star. The audience applauded loudly in response to the tender moment as they appreciated witnessing the charismatic duo embrace.

The reunion takes place while a stage musical based on the original film is now being performed in London and is scheduled to premiere on Broadway in 2019.

Following his praise for the initiative, Fox, who has long struggled with Parkinson’s illness, explained to the audience why it was so crucial for him to be present in person at NYCC.

Fox said, “You guys have given me my whole life. If given a choice, I wouldn’t change my diagnosis.”

“This event was the best thing to ever occur in my life. Parkinson’s is a blessing. People have responded, “You’re nuts,” when I’ve said it’s a gift. Yes, but it’s a present that keeps giving, I reply. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, though; it’s a gift. It doesn’t matter what I have; what matters is what I’ve been given.”

The two were asked to share a few pearls of wisdom with the audience before the panel concluded. “Your future is what you make of it, so make it a good one,” Lloyd urged the crowd in classic Doc Brown style, quoting a passage from Back to the Future Part III.

Fox, for his part, quoted Doctor Strangelove, one of his favorite films, saying, “You can’t fight in here, this is the war room,” and advised the crowd to merely “suck in your breath, go on, and carry on” no matter how wild things get.

The two last met at Awesome Con in August 2021, making the panel their most recent get-together.
