Not sure how you feel about it, but we are still in shock following Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral, which took place on September 19 at Westminster Abbey. It was very heartwarming to see the royal family honour the monarch, and one thing that really stood out to us was the way some of the family members silently honoured Her Majesty with their tastefully chosen attire.
The Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte accomplished this with the help of their emotional jewellery. Kate, 40, dressed with a variety of the Queen’s beloved pearls and wore a magnificent coat dress by one of her favourite designers, Alexander McQueen, along with Jane Taylor London’s “Halo Pillbox” hat.
The Princess wore a four-strand necklace made of diamonds and pearls, which she has worn on several occasions previously, most notably at Prince Philip’s funeral last year. The identical Bahraini pearl drop earrings that belonged to the late Queen were likewise on her.
The bracelet, however, seems to be a recent addition to Kate’s jewellery wardrobe. It is quite easy to confuse this four-strand bracelet for the three-strand pearl bracelet Princess Diana wore, but it has a different clasp and is said to be one of the Queen’s. While honouring former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s 70th birthday in 1995, Her Majesty was spotted wearing it.
Another unique item with a strong link to the Queen was worn by Princess Charlotte. The young monarch wore an all-black outfit designed by Ancar, and on her left lapel was a dazzling diamond brooch in the form of a horseshoe.
The modest pendant, Charlotte’s first substantial item of jewellery she has worn in public, seemed to be a kind homage to her “Gan Gan,” who loves horses, making it more poignant given that the late Queen was well-known for her love of both horses and horse racing and had her first riding lesson at the age of three.
